Can receive faxes, but won't send as an email. 1 Year, 7 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,

I have a fairly fresh install of Elastix 2.0.3, freebpx upgraded to 2.8, and HylaFAX 4.3.9. Everything is installed in the same box. I have set up a SP3102 as my main trunk with a POTS line connected to it. Setup FreePBX to forward faxes via sip detection to the IAX extension which is configured with corresponding virtual fax. I can receive faxes just fine and they show up in the "Fax Viewer" perfectly.

My problem is that the faxes are not being sent as an email attachment to the email address that was configured or any email address that I know of. I read through the "Elastix without tears" and made sure that my "relayhost =" is set right. To the best of my knowledge Postfix is configured correctly, but I'm highly unsure of myself as I was trying to make sense of the Postfix setup documentation I found. I can send email via a user I set up in the webmail section of Elastix, so makes me believe Postfix is working right.

How do I fix this? Are there any logs I can look in for clues on whats wrong? Is there maybe some settings that somebody can help me iron out? Let me know what more information you need.

Thanks in advance for anybody willing to help me before I go completely insane!

Got it fixed!

I realized that my voice mails were not going to email either. This new fact helped me find a post on trouble shooting e-mail.

www.elastix.org/index.php/component/kune...0.html?lang=en#63963

Turn out that I didn't have my outgoing domain in postfix set to a FQDN. The reason webmail was able to send a message was, becuase it used the the webmail user's address as the from address instead of relying on postfix for the domain name.

Hope this can help someone else.
